Ranji Trophy Plate Group, Second Match Nagaland take 186-run lead after Manipur posted 139 runs in first innings

IMPHAL, Oct 19 : Manipur were bowled out for a meagre total of 139 runs in their first innings after hosts Nagaland racked up 237 runs in the first innings of the second Ranji Trophy Plate Group match at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, Dimapur. Putting up 88 runs for 2 wickets in their second innings by the close of the second day, Nagaland are leading by 186 runs.
Resuming the day at 236/8, Nagaland could add only 1 run to their tally to end the innings at 237 in 89.4 overs as Pheiroijam Jotin got rid of Hokaito Zhimomi  on 55 for the 9th wicket before removing Nagaho Chishi on 8 for the 10th  wicket.
With the last two wickets, Pheiroijam Jotin returned with the best bowling figures of 4/40 in 14.4 overs as Ahsanul Kabir (3/56) and Lamabam Ajay Singh (2/41) shared five wickets and Kangabam Priyojit (1/11 in 3 overs) picked one.
Continuing the day, Manipur suffered a massive setback as they were reduced to 23/5 within 13.3 overs with Imliwati Lemtur and J Suchith taking their turns to stun the top order batters.
After the dismal start, Pheiroijam Jotin and RK Rex forged a 76-run partnership off 166 balls to take the team past the 50-run mark but Nagaland skipper Rongsen Jonathan broke the partnership at 99 in the 42nd over by removing RK Rex on 27.
Jotin held on to complete his half century with Prafullomani aiding him on the other end but was dismissed by J Suchith on 58 for the 7th wicket in the 47th over. Prafullomani was then removed by Rongsen Jonathan on 30 for the 8th wicket.
Suchith then undone Ahsanul Kabir for the 9th wicket before Rongsen Jonathan bowled out K Bishworjit to restrict Manipur at 139 in 51.1 overs.
Nagaland then kickstarted their second innings and added 88 runs for two wickets to take a 186-run lead at stumps with Dega Nischal adding an unbeaten 62 off 93 balls. For Manipur, Ahsanul Kabir and Lamabam Ajay have shared the two wickets.
