Guv, CM extend wishes
IMPHAL, Oct 1 : Governor Laskhman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister N Biren Singh have conveyed their greetings to the people on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti which falls on October 2.
The Governor, in his message, said that Mahatma Gandhi propagated and lived the ideals of truth and non-violence and held them as key to peace and prosperity.
He appealed to the people to follow the teachings of Gandhi, the father of the Nation and 'forget our differences' for the larger good of all.
The Governor also said that the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched following Gandhi's concept of cleanliness.
The Chief Minister, while extending his greetings, said that Mahatma Gandhi lived his life in pursuit of the power of truth after which he named his movement 'Satyragraha', which implies seeking truth in the spirit of peace and love.
N Biren continued that the core of Gandhi's philosophy of Ahimsa is more relevant now given all the difficulties the State has been going through.
