IMPHAL, Oct 18 : Nagaland erected 236 runs for 8 wickets at stumps on Day 1 against Manipur in a Ranji Trophy Plate Group match at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, Dimapur.
Hokaito Zhimomi (55 off 176 balls) and Nagaho Chishi (8 off 4 balls) were unbeaten at the close of the day after the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first. Sedezhalie Rupero 57, Dega Nischal 49, Chetan Bist 36 had made significant contributions to Nagaland's tally earlier in the day. Manipur's Ahsanul Kabir was on top of the bowling chart today securing three wickets while Pheiroijam Jotin and Lamabam Ajay claimed two wickets apiece.
Nagaland lost Joshua Ozukum early on 2 to Pheiroijam Jotin but Dega Nischal 49 and Sedezhalie Rupero (57) added a 68 run partnership for the second wicket which ended when Ahsanul Kabir trapped Dega Nischal lbw in the 25th over.
Incoming Rongsen Jonathan also had a short stay as he was caught behind off the bowling of Lamabam Ajay when the score read 44.
Hokaito and Sedezhalie Rupero added 36 runs before Sedezhalie Rupero holed out to Yumnam Karnajit off the Ahsanul Kabir's bowling at 126 in the second delivery of the 43rd over. Ahsanul completed his treble of wickets by removing incoming Hem Chetri on a 4-ball duck for the fifth wicket in the same over before Lamabam Ajay completed his second wicket by removing Jagadeesha Suchith on a golden duck the next over.
Hokaito and Chetan Bist then forged 65 runs for the 7th wicket before Chetan was bowled out by Kangabam Priyojit Singh in the 75th over  before Pheiroijam Jotin reduced Nagaland to 225 for 8 in the fifth delivery of the 86th over by getting rid of Imliwati Lemtur on 12.
