28th State Youth Basketball Championship commences, ESU beat CYLC 57-41

IMPHAL, Oct 18 : ESU, Wangkhei thumped CYLC, Chingamathak 57-41 in the boys' opening match as the 28th State Youth Basketball Championship commenced at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court under the aegis of the Manipur Basketball Association.
The boys' competition is featuring 10-teams clubbed into two groups while the girls competition which will begin tomorrow, features 3 teams.
In the boys' opening match (Group B), ESU had a brilliant start and led CYLC by 26-4 points and added 16 in the second period against CYLC's 11 to take a 42-15 lead. CYLC fought back in the third period to trail 33-49 but could add 8 points against ESU's 8 in the fourth quarter to go down by 41-57 points at the end.
H Rishikanta led the scoring for ESU in this competitive match adding 31 points as John Kenedy 11 and Satish Ksh 10 also made double digit figures. M Telheiba and Mangal Laishram also added 2 points apiece to the team's tally as B Milkan scored 1 point.
For CYLC, Chingkheinganba 10, L Leishemba 8, A Prince 8, L Lamnganba 7, H Frengky 6 were significant contributors as N Anurag added 2 points.
Later in the day, LMYVA, Lalambung overwhelmed Model Club by 39-8 points courtesy of Owen's brilliant 29 to open their Group A campaign on a bright note.
Chaoba also added 4 points to the team's tally as Salam Leingakpa and Thongam Thoungamba added two points apiece. W Devraj (5 pts) topscored for Model Club as L Billgate (2 pts) and E Joel (1 pt) contributed three points.
