CAU Farmers' Field Day of Soyabean Crop held

THOUBAL, Oct 17 : All India Coordinated Research Project, AICRP (Soyabean), College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal organised CAU Farmers' Field Day of Soyabean Crop at CAU Research Farm, Andro today.
The event was held under the aegis of Indian Institute of Soyabean Research, IISR Indore, Madhya Pradesh as part of IISR-NEH (North East Hill) Programme.
Notable dignitaries at the event include Dr U Chaoba, Professor, Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, CAU Imphal as the chief guest; Dr L Nabachandra Singh, Professor and AICRP in-charge, CAU Imphal as the functional president; Asheibam Nandakumar Meitei, Secretary, Andro Farmer's Club and Sagolshem Chandra Meitei, Khullakpa Andro as the guests of honour.  
As a part of the programme, material inputs for winter crops were also distributed to farmers.
Speaking in this connection, in-charge, AICRP said that today's event will help in increasing farmers' yield.
Successful cultivation of Soyabean can bear positive results for the State's economy, he added.
He further pointed out the high protein-content of Soyabean and added that many daily use household products are derived from them.
Participating farmers also had an interaction session with the Soyabean Scientists.
