Freshers' cum farewell party held at IIIT Manipur

IMPHAL, Oct 17 : Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Manipur organised a memorable event on Wednesday at City Campus Mantripukhri, where the fusion of old and new students took place and everyone got to experience a memorable day in their life.
According to a release issued by IIIT Manipur, the programme began with the recitation of "Vande Mataram" and welcome address by HOS of Student Affairs, Dr Kishorjit Nongmeikakpam.
He elaborated on the importance of discipline and strictness in evolving the students' academic level and making them a gem of the Nation through rigorous hard work.
Delivering the presidential address, Prof Krishnan Bhaskar, Director, IIIT Manipur, said that the institute has been advancing in various domains like placement skills and networking skills.
He advised students of both genders to interact with each other while keeping in mind the traditional roots and culture.
Encouraging the students to strive for excellence in their future endeavors, the Director welcomed the new batch of 239 engineering degree students who have been newly admitted this year.
Prof Krishnan also narrated about the struggles he faced to come up with the present strength of more than 750 students with more than 90 girls students, where it was only 215 students with only 3 girls students when he joined IIIT Manipur as a Director.
Speaking as the chief guest of the programme, Nishit Ujjwal, Inspector General of Police, Government of Manipur, said "Different students from every nook and corner of the country should come together and join hands to make this Nation a better place through their technological skills".
He also stated that students from rural backgrounds should focus solely on their life goals so that they can make their place known to everyone.
The 4th year students of the institute were commemorated with mementos at the farewell programme. Students also performed various cultural events which delighted everyone.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by cultural secretary of Gymkhana Council, Aman Maurya and recitation of "National Anthem".
