20 MLAs write to PM to help end crisis

IMPHAL, Oct 17 : As many as 20 ruling MLAs have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to show political will in order to bring the 17 months old Manipur crisis to an end and restore peace in the State.
A well placed source informed that a memorandum signed by the 20 MLAs was submitted to Narendra Modi through the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday.
The memorandum highlighted that all sections of people in Manipur have been suffering extreme misery on account of the protracted violent crisis.
It urged the Prime Minister to pay special attention to the protracted crisis and initiate concrete political measures to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
The signatories of the memorandum included 16 Meitei MLAs and Ministers belonging to BJP, two NPP MLAs and one JD (U) MLA.
The memorandum has six pages, according to the source.
The memorandum categorically urged the Prime Minister to initiate peace dialogue with all the stakeholders immediately.
The ruling MLAs appealed to the Prime Minister to take up concrete political measures and bring the two warring communities  to a peace talk so that the crisis can be  brought to an end at the earliest.
