4th Ph Irabot Memorial 1st Divn Football tourney resumes

IMPHAL, Oct 16 : KNK, Keibul and YSUC, Phubala posted contrasting wins as the 4th edition of Ph Irabot Singh Memorial 1st Division District Football League 2023-24 organised by DFA Moirang resumed today at Wangoo Popular ground after almost two weeks.
The second match of the tournament and today's first saw KNK FC, Keibul edge 2-1 past UYT, Thamnapokpi in a competitive encounter.
It was a neck to neck start for both the teams as K Rohit scored early in the fourth minute to give KNK the lead before A Arunkumar hit the equaliser in a span of 6 minutes.
After settling the first half in a 1-1 draw, the two sides kept exchanging runs in search of the lead and it were KNK who forged ahead in the 55th minute with O Premchand finding the target. The latter part was about KNK trying to add up and UYT struggling to draw level. Their efforts however did not bear fruit and the scoreline remained intact till the final whistle earning the Keibul side all three points.
Later in the day, YSUC, Phubala who suffered a 0-3 opening game loss to WPC, Wangoo made a remarkable return by defeating KIYDO, Kwakta 10-2 in a lopsided encounter.
The huge win came on the back of a double hat-trick from W John (4', 35', 46', 52', 61', 71') as L Dhoni made a double (50', 73'). L Subhas (7') and K Ajish (76') also added a goal apiece to set up the huge win for YSUC while L Charly (26') and A Jamir (37') scored it for the Kwakta side.
WPC, Wangoo will play UYT, Thamnapokpi in the fourth match on October 18 at the same playground. The match starts at 2 pm.
