Fish stuck in throat kills child

THOUBAL, Oct 16: In a tragic incident, a 10-month-old boy died after a small fish got stuck in the throat.
The incident happened yesterday evening at Khangabok Part-II Meisnam Leikai in Thoubal district.
The minor was the son of Khundongbam Menten.
According to family members, the boy accidentally swallowed a small fish, kept in the kitchen, when his grandmother was receiving a phone call.
Noticing the child had accidentally swallowed the fish and it had got stuck in the esophagus, the family members rushed him to the Thoubal District Hospital.
The doctors at Thoubal District Hospital then advised the family to rush the child to RIMS.
At RIMS, the fish was removed from the child's throat, but the child could not be saved. The doctors declared he was "already dead" before they could clear the blockage.
