IMPHAL, Oct 15 : Two farmers from Manipur, Rajkumari Binita Devi and Kangabam Indira Devi, were honored with the prestigious Mahila Sanman Award for their exceptional contributions in the field of agriculture.
The award ceremony was held at the auditorium of  Krishna Kanta Handiqui State University, Khanapara, Guwahati.
Rajkumari Binita Devi is a renowned mushroom grower and cultivates mushrooms on a 0.39 acre farm, producing around 9,000 bags annually generating an income of approximately Rs 13 lakh per year. She has been recognized with multiple State level awards in Manipur for her innovation in mushroom farming.
Kangabam Indira Devi,  also known for her integrated farming techniques, grows a variety of crops including cabbage, lemon, banana, potato, mustard and maize while managing a piggery and composting units. Her efforts earn her an annual income of Rs 13 lakh. She received support from the Department of Agriculture, Manipur for her commitment to sustainable farming.
The Director of SAMETI and Agriculture, Manipur Ningthoujam Gojendro (MCS) has congratulated the two awardees and expressed his gratitude to the extension functionaries of SAMETI for their unwavering support in guiding and assisting the farmers.
