IMPHAL, Oct 15: Several civil society organisations (CSOs) have warned that the Government of India and the Government of Manipur will be held accountable if the peace talk held among Kuki, Meitei and Naga legislators at New Delhi infringed upon the collective interest of Manipur.
Former UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam said that resolving the 17 months old violent crisis and restoring peace in Manipur is the responsibility of the Government of India.
Details of the talk held today are not known to the people. However, if the talk  infringed upon the collective interest of Manipur in any manner, the Government of India and the State Government will be held accountable, Joychandra said.
If the talk had any agenda to disintegrate Manipur, the Centre and the State Government will be held accountable, he said.
He pointed out that Manipur has a written history spanning over thousands of years and it has been a common home to diverse communities for centuries.
The UCM has always been standing resolutely to protect the integrity of Manipur under all circumstances. 18 people laid down their lives for the sake of Manipur’s integrity, he recalled.
Ministers and MLAs who took part in today’s meeting must always keep in mind that the integrity of Manipur is non-negotiable, Joychan-dra asserted.
Social activist Ashang Kasar said that the initiative to hold talk among Meitei, Kuki and Naga legislators and explore a solution to the 17 months old crisis, though late, is a positive step.
“As a Manipuri, I support the initiative”, he said.
Wishing that the talk may succeed in exploring a solution and bring peace in the State, Ashang Kasar said that both the warring communities need to forget, forgive and reconcile, and work collectively for peace.
“Each community must respect each other and remember we all are Manipuris”, he said.
He also pointed out that people of all communities have been suffering untold misery on account of the protracted crisis.
MMWO president Boboi Khorimayum said that they felt elated and hopeful about the joint meeting held among the Meitei, Kuki and Naga legislators in order to  explore a solution to the Manipur crisis.
Praying that the talk may lead to peace and normalcy in Manipur, Boboi asserted that the talk should not compromise the integrity of Manipur in any manner.
He said that many Meitei Pangal organisations are committed to protect the integrity of Manipur.
