26 weapons recovered

IMPHAL, Oct 14: Joint operations, led by Indian Army with Assam Rifles, Manipur Police and other security forces, have resulted in the recovery of 26 weapons, ammunition and other warlike stores over last week.
In Bishnupur district, on October 7, a joint operation resulted in the recovery of one Carbine Machine, one AK-47 Rifle, one 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifle, one 12 Bore Pistol, 2.5 Kg of Improvised Explosive Device (IED), ammunition, grenades and warlike stores from Gelbung.
A separate operation on the same day recovered two country made mortars (Pompi), two country made Pistols, grenades and other warlike stores from Kangvai area of Churachandpur district, said PIB Defence Wing in a statement. On October 8, the Assam Rifles and Manipur police conducted an operation at Khelakhong of Imphal West and recovered one 7.62 mm SLR Rifle, one .303 Rifle, one 9 mm Pistol, grenades and other warlike stores.
On October 9, the security forces recovered one M-16 Rifle, two SLRs, one .22 Rifle, one country made Sten gun, two Carbines, eight 9 mm country made Pistols, ammunition, grenades and warlike stores from Champai, Sagolmang, in Imphal East district. The successful recovery of these warlike stores highlights the seamless cooperation between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and local law enforcement agencies, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring the security and safety of the region. With such operations, the Indian Army remains committed in its continuous efforts to maintain peace and stability in the area, said the PIB Defence Wing.
