IMPHAL, Oct 13: The Pambei-led UNLF has flayed the act of allegedly forcing Khoinaijam Romario  take the names of its CCM S Pankhei and Chief Revenue Officer Kh Laanjingba while punishing Romario for his immoral activities on October 6 by a particular UG group.
It was a cheap and false propaganda aimed at maligning the party’s image, said a press release issued by the Pambei-led UNLF Media Coordinator Charairongba Thokchom.
It said that the Romario’s incident has nothing to do with the party’s two office bearers.
Hailing the punishment of Romario as a good step, the Pambei-led UNLF said that they have been carrying out a sustained campaign against such anti-social elements. It cited the execution of KCP Nando, the prime accused in the rape and murder case of Baby Lungnila Elizabeth, after a comprehensive trial on March 2, 2021.
Romario was forced to take the names of the party’s two office bearers as an act of vengeance for the humiliation suffered by the particular UG group after people came to know at whose behest the Patriots’ Day event at Khuman Lampak on August 13 was organised, Charairongba said.
The party (Pambei-led UNLF) did not dictate any word to the organisers of the event. Whatever they said before the media was out of their own free will.
Whatever questions put to them were asked as per the wish of media persons, according to the press release. On the contrary, Romario was forced to utter whatever the particular UG group wanted in their custody in the absence of any media person. The video created by compiling short clips is the proof, it asserted.
