Appointment of SOs in PHED CE asked to produce records

IMPHAL, Oct 12: A single bench of the High Court of Manipur has directed Chief Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department to produce relevant records in connection with the recruit-ment/appointment of 91 posts of Grade-I Section Officers. This direction was given by the Court of Justice Ahanthem Bimol on October 10 after a hearing a writ petition filed by Thokchom Babina, Superintending Engineer, Urban Circle, PHED against Rishikumar Sora-isham, the State Chief Information Commissioner and Chief Engineer Public Health Engineering Department.
The notification for recruitment of the 91 posts of Section Officers was issued by the PHED on November 10, 2023.
During the hearing in the Court, none appeared on behalf of the Chief Engineer, Public Health Engi- neering Department.
Hearing the writ petition, the Court observed that the Chief Engineer, PHED has still not furnished documents to the petitioner despite it directing the Chief Engineer to do so on September 2 last.
Listing the matter for further hearing on October 16, the Court directed the Chief Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department to produce the relevant records in connection with the recruitment by the next date (October 16) without fail.
