The All Manipur Tribals Development Grievances Forum (AMTDGF) has expressed strong resentment against the State Government attitude towards the job card holders of Manipur.
In a release, AMTDGF said that there are outstanding dues which the State Government has failed to deliver to the job card holders under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
"The State Government has failed to pay the State share which is mandatory under MGNREGA. The State has failed to deliver 100 days of work under MGNREGA", it added.
AMTDGF lamented that the State Government has totally failed to respond to the grievances of the job card holders despite numerous appeals including a written letter submitted to the Rural Development Minister of Manipur by the forum.
The Forum reminded the State Government that the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India had sanctioned an amount of Rs 39,70,03,000 to the Government of Manipur as central assistance towards material and administrative contingency via order dated June 11, 2024 and an amount of Rs 6,90,83,560 for payment of wages under MGNREGA via order dated June 14, 2024.
"The Forum will not remain a mere spectators and will launch a series of democratic agitation if the State Government fails to release the fund under MGNREGA at the earliest", cautioned AMTDGF.
