23rd Sub-Junior Boys' and 48th Senior Men's State Level Volleyball Tournaments get underway

IMPHAL, Oct 10 : The 23rd Sub-Junior Boys and 48th Senior Men's State Level Volleyball Tournaments kicked off today under the aegis of the All Manipur Volleyball Association here at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
The sub-junior boys' tournament is featuring 12 teams clubbed into four groups while the senior men's tournament is featuring 20 teams, with the addition of CDVA, Chandel in the last minute, clubbed into four groups.
The sub-junior boys' tournament began with AMIMYDO , Mayang Imphal defeating NYVA, Naorem 25-16, 25-23 for the first Group A win.
AMIMYDO also went on to defeat SUWC, Irengbam later in the day by 2-0 margin (25-11, 25-11) to confirm their place in the quarterfinals.
In the Group B matches staged today, SEWA, Nachou defeated DVA, Thoubal in straight sets before SCYC, Senjam Chirang defeated SEWA 25-20, 25-14.
In the lone Group C match, TRYVA defeated TYC, Tengdongyan 35-29, 25-23 before YGC, Wakhong defeated UKVC, Kamjong 25-19, 23-25, 17-15 in a keenly contested Group D opener.
Later in the senior men's opening match (Group A), NDVA, Noney secured a 25-20, 24-26, 15-12 win over YMDO, Heirangoithong.
In other Group A match, SCYC pulled off a 25-17, 23-25, 15-8 win over HVA, Heigrujam.
In the Group B matches staged later in the day, MPSC defeated UKVC 25-12, 25-14 and AAVA, Andro defeated IGO, Oinam 25-20, 25-12.
In Group C matches, KDVA, Kamjong beat EAGLE, Ukhrul 16-25, 25-14, 15-7 and SEDO, Nongmaikhong prevailed 25-21, 25-19 over TRYVC, Ukhrul 25-21, 25-19.
The day also saw NSU, Imphal beat KYLSC, Kachikhul 25-22, 22-25, 17-15 and NYVA, Naorem thumping MRC, Mairenkhong 25-14, 25-7 in Group D matches.
In the third Group A match staged later, SDC, Shamurou defeated NDVA, Noney 25-19, 23-25, 15-12 as UKVC, Kamjong beat CDVA, Chandel 25-21, 25-22 in the third Group B match.
