Arms, ammos recovered

IMPHAL, Oct 10 : A number of arms and ammunition were recovered during a search operation carried out by a combined team of Bishnupur commandos, Nambol police personnel, 33 Assam Rifles and CRPF in a foothill area along the inter-village road between Aigejang and Uyok this morning.
The combined force found two plastic bags during the search operation. On opening the bags, several arms and ammunition were found inside.
The items found inside the bags included one Chinese machine gun, one tear gas gun, one 9mm pistol with magazine and four live rounds, one .303 sniper rifle, one single barrel gun, one IED weighing 1.35 Kg, three hand grenades, two tear smoke grenades, six numbers of 12 bore ammunition, four live rounds of .303 rifle, one Baofeng radio set, five anti-riot rubber bullets, three tube launching and three tear smoke shells. The recovered arms and ammunition were seized from the spot by observing necessary formalities in presence of an Executive Magistrate and later handed over to the Nambol police station for investigation and necessary legal action, said sources.
