Veteran Cricket : UCC-Blue beat Model Club by 2 wickets to seal quarter final slot

IMPHAL, Jan 5 : UCC-Blue, Uripok defeated Model Club, Chingamakha by 2 wickets in the last Group A match of the 20th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament to finish Group runners and book a quarter final berth.
Model Club were bundled out for 145 runs in 28.1 overs  after winning the toss and opting to bat first here at Langthabal Public Ground.
UCC-Blue however chased down the target in 29.1 overs thanks to an early half century by Bishorjit (55 off 62 balls) and Rajesh's 36-ball 40.
Earlier in the Model Club innings, Damen 24, Suresh 21, Tomba 16 and Chinglensana 16 were the main run getters as David (2/21) and Deepak (2/24) picked up two wickets apiece for UCC-Blue.
Boyai, Kumarkanta, Rajesh and Rajee also picked a wicket apiece to set up the Model Club collapse on 145.
Jotish (3/18 in 18 overs) and Damen (2/28 in 6 overs) shared five wickets but could not contain UCC-Blue batters from easing to winning 149 in 29.1 overs with two wickets left to spare.
Group A winners, NAPSA will play Group C runners ESU in the first quarter final match tomorrow at the same venue.
