75th Republic Day celebrated at Kamjong district with grand fervour

Kamjong District Hqtrs witnessed large public attendance including CSO leaders, village headmen/chiefs, DLOs, school students and teachers on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day Celebration held at Kamjong Higher Secondary School Ground yesterday.
Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner, Rangnamei Rang Peter, IAS, accompanied by Addl SP, Kamjong, Semmi Ramror, MPS, inspected the 17 contingents assembled for the march-past, which include contingents of the District Police, school students, ASHA Kamjong, ICDS Kamjong, SHG Kamjong and band party of 8th Assam Rifles.
The DC later unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the 17 march-past contingents commanded by Inspector James A Shimray, OC of Chassad Police Station, Kamjong District.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest elaborated on the vision of the makers of the Constitution of India, and the ideals enshrined in it. He further called upon all citizens to always uphold democratic values.
During the function, 38 Commendation Awards and 21 Appreciation Certificates were handed over to officials and staff of the district by the District Administration. Compassion Christian High School was awarded the first prize among march-past contingents for schools.
Cultural performances by ICDS, Kamjong, Chassad Youth Club and youth of Bungpa Khullen were other highlights of the event.
The 75th Republic Day Celebration was also held yesterday at several sub-divisions of the district.
