Ningol Club Heirok observes sixth foundation day

THOUBAL, Jan 21: The 6th foundation day of Ningol Club Heirok was observed today in a simple ceremony held at the Club's office located at Heirok Champra Thong.
The event was attended by Thoidingjam Manihar, president,  Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS) Manipur; Sophiya Khundongbam, president, Ningol Club Heirok; BM Yaima Saha, vice president, Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS) Manipur; Khundongbam Sini, president, Manipur Women's Federation; Maibam Tomthin, vice president, UPACO; Angom Punil, secretary general, FOCS Manipur and Hijam Dinesh, secretary general, Heirok Development Club as the chief guest, functional president and guests of honour.         
The observance was held on the theme "Women Empowerment & Self Sustain". Ningol Club members handed over simple gifts to various dignitaries as a mark of honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sophiya Khundongbam stated that despite being a womens' organisation, they have received the generous help of many brothers which made service to the community possible.
As per the objectives of the Club to uplift women and ensure that they receive the light of education, the Club has consistently provided books to those girls who cannot afford them through donations or book exchange, she added. The Club also conducts classes on etiquette and how to dress as well as various skill development training programs to enhance their livelihood, she shared.
