EYOOM constituted to protect indigenous people

IMPHAL, Jan 21 : With the goal of protecting indigenous people of Manipur from the attacks of external aggressors, a village volunteer force called 'EYOOM' was constituted today in a ceremony held at Nilakuthi Mela Ground.
To mark the constitution of EYOOM, a flag embossed with Kanglasha was hoisted in the presence of Apunba Koirengei Wangma Village Development Committee president Phijam Priyokumar, EYOOM volunteer leader W Jiten, Nilakuthi Meira Paibi president Paonam Pema and Awang Potshangbam Khunou Meira Paibi member Nameirakpam Nayani among others.
During the ceremony, women from different villages presented gifts to the EYOOM team and gave their blessings.
The gathering also observed two minutes of silence to pay respect to the brave heroes who gave their lives in the present conflict.
Speaking on the occasion, W Jiten said that EYOOM was constituted with the sole objective of protecting the indigenous people from the external aggressors who are targeting innocent people and threatening the integrity of Manipur.
"EYOOM has no hatred/ enmity against any individual or communities that have been living in the State for ages", said Jiten while adding that all the volunteers will strictly abide by the rules & regulations of EYOOM.
Calling for public support, W Jiten shared that the force numbering about 300 well trained members will be carrying out various activities to protect the integrity of Manipur and help mitigate the suffering of the people.
