IMPHAL, Jan 20: Governor Anusuiya Uikey and Educa-tion Minister Th Basanta Kumar have greeted the peo-ple of Manipur on the 53rd Statehood Day, January 21.
In her message to the people, Governor Anusuiya Uikey said despite some vicissitudes and constraints, the State has made steady progress towards fulfilling identified objectives. There has been a significant increase in literacy and spread of higher education, and a host of other welfare measures have distinguished the people's effort during the past few decades.
"On this solemn day, let us reiterate our resolve to reach new milestones in the years ahead, " said the Governor.
Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh said the people of Manipur have made significant contributions to the growth and development of "our great Nation".
"The rich cultural heritage of Manipur is a testa- ment to the creativity and ingenuity of its people. Let us all work together to preserve this heritage for future generations. As a Minister of the State, I am committed to the development of Manipur and its people," said Th Basanta Kumar Singh.
