IMPHAL, Jan 20: The Arambai Tenggol has sent written invitations to all Meitei MLAs and Ministers including the Chief Minister to a meeting scheduled at 10 am on January 24 at Kangla Uttra.
Arambai Tenggol teams visited the Chief Minister, Meitei Ministers and MLAs at their respective residences/quarters and gave invitations for the scheduled meeting.
Through the written invitations, the Arambai Teng- gol appealed to all the Mei-tei MLAs and Ministers to attend the meeting without fail.
“We are inviting you to the meeting not because of your positions but because of being Meiteis”, said the Arambai Tenggol’s invitation.
Asking all the Ministers and MLAs not to stay away from the meeting, it said that anyone who stays away from the meeting would be considered as an enemy of the Meitei community.
The meeting would deliberate on what the Meitei community should do in the face of the current crisis, it said.
Taking serious note of the invitation, Cabinet Ministers held a meeting with Chief Minister N Biren in the chair at around 4.30 pm today.
This was followed by another meeting with all the ruling MLAs on the Arambai Tenggol’s invitation to a meeting.
Sources said, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, several ruling Ministers and MLAs today discussed ultimata, raised by Arambai Tenggol and several JACs and civil society organisations including COCOMI. While some MLAs offered to resign, the meeting however, couldn't take any concrete resolutions. Some MLAs didn't attend the meeting. The meeting will resume tomorrow with the attendance of all MLAs, said sources.
Meanwhile, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra informed that Congress MLAs have received the Arambai Tenggol’s invitation. Although some of the Congress MLAs are currently outside the State, Meghachandra said that they would soon held a meeting with the CLP leader on the invitation.
