IMP/M'rang, Jan 18 : Five Meitei civilians including a father and son have been killed during the last 24 hours while six other persons including three commando personnel sustained bullet injuries as multiple locations and Meitei villages came under fierce attacks from Kuki terrorists.
Continuing with their acts of terrorism, four Meitei farmers including a father-son duo were shot dead by Kuki terrorists at around 3.45 pm today at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou, sources informed.
Coming down from above Lamlai Kabui village, Kuki terrorists travelled over 2 Kms and came to a water supply plant located in the middle of paddy fields and murdered four civilians.
The four victims included a father-son duo who were keeping watch over the water supply plant.
They have been identified as Oinam Bamonjao (63) s/o late O Nokul and Oinam Manitomba (37).
The other two victims have been identified as Thiyam Somendro (53) s/o Manibabu and Ningthoujam Nabadeep s/o late Shyam.
While the bodies of Bamonjao and Manitomba were retrieved first, the bodies of Somendro and Nabadeep could not be located for quite some time.
Later, the villagers found the bodies and took them to RIMS mortuary.
It is said that Manitomba was an employee of the Veterinary Department.
One villager said Kuki terrorists reportedly told them through a wireless set that they killed five persons while one woman was spared.
The Kuki terrorists also told them that they (Kuki terrorists) would continue their attacks and killings.
So far, four bodies have been found but the fifth victim could not be located, said the villager.
The villager said that the identity of the fifth victim was not known.
About 30 minutes before the slaughter, troops of Sikh Regiment deployed in the nearby area came and drank water from the water supply plant.
The troops also assured the villagers that no harm would come to them.
The Kuki terrorists took Nabadeep a little distance away from the farm where they subjected him to inhumane torture. The Kuki terrorists pricked Nabadeep’s face multiple times with a sharp weapon/object before shooting him.
Nabadeep’s hands were found tied behind.
On the other hand, one special commando personnel identified as Kumam Premananda (41) of Moirang Kumam who sustained injuries on his upper abdomen in an attack by Kuki terrorists at Moreh town last night was airlifted from Moreh today at around 2 am and admitted at Raj Medicity under serious condition.
Two other special commando personnel who also sustained bullet injuries in the same attack by Kuki terrorists at Moreh were airlifted from Moreh to Imphal at around noon along with the lifeless body of deceased Havildar Takhellam- bam Saileshwore (38) s/o (L) Babu of Lamsang Akham.
The injured commando personnel were taken to RIMS Hospital from Imphal Tulihal International Airport and they are presently undergoing treatment in stable condition.
The injured commando personnel have been identified as Md Kamal Hassan (34) s/o Md Soukar Ali of Sangaiyumpham Palli Bazar and Wangkhem Surjit (35) s/o Luxman of Thoubal Athokpam.
Md Kamal Hassan is a personnel of 3rd IRB, attached to Special Commando Khabeisoi. He sustained a bullet injury on the left shoulder.
Wangkhem Surjit is a personnel of 1st MR, attached to Thoubal Comman- do. He sustained splinter injuries on his right leg and neck, said the sources.
At Tumukhong Moirang-purel, Imphal East, one villager who went to herd cattle sustained splinter injuries as Kuki terrorists terrorised the area with bombs and bullets this evening.
The injured victim has been identified as Sorokhai-bam Ibochouba (22).
As village defence volunteers retaliated, a heavy exchange of fire was going on till the time of filing this report.
