THOUBAL, Jan 17: The Private Schools' Development Council (PSDC) Thoubal has urged the Zonal Education Office (ZEO) and other relevant departments to keep a vigil over the issuance of admission notifications by unrecognised schools and day care centres in Thoubal district.
An executive meeting of PSDC Thoubal was held today at MMRC and Unity Park at Khangabok to discuss the issue of emergence of unrecognised schools and day care centres in Thoubal district and to streamline the admission process.
A number of resolutions were taken during the meeting in connection with the streamlining of admission process and functioning of schools in the district.
PSDC secretary general Jotin Salam said that if timely measures are not taken up by the ZEO and departments concerned to stop the faulty admission process, then the parents and students may have to bear unwanted outcomes in future.
He maintained that the parents should carefully check whether the school is recognised by the relevant authorities and has received due affiliations before admitting their children to avoid unnecessary problems later.
The schools should also put up the recognition received in their schools to clear the doubts, he added.
He also informed that surprise visits will be carried out by PSDC in association with civil society organizations and student bodies to check the functioning of schools.
Further it was resolved to put a ban on opening of unrecognised coaching residence centres.
Expressing concern over the establishment of schools and coaching centres just for mere monetary gains, he stressed on the need of keeping a strict vigil over the mushrooming of schools and education centres to save the future of young students.
He highlighted that school run without recognition is a heinous crime and one can be fined upto Rs 1 lakh for the crime.
In view of the upgradation of schools without approval from competent authorities, he said that these malpractices should be checked to save the future of the recognised schools which have been striving earnestly to provide quality education.
He appealed to the ZEO Thoubal to take note of the above resolutions and take up appropriate measures within this January month to bring the law breakers under control  for the welfare of students and enhance the education system in the district.
Today's meeting was also attended by PSDC Thoubal president Surchandra Sharma and former president Kh Menjor Mangang among others.
