MU win 3 medals at All India Inter University Fencing Championship

IMPHAL, Jan 14 : Manipur University fencing team have won a gold medal and two bronze medals as the All India Inter University Fencing (M&W) Championship, 2023-24 hosted by the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar kicked off today.
Women's foil team comprising W Sonia of Kakching Khunou College, N Mina of KP College, Daiyarani Ningthoujam of Biramangol College and G Priyalaxmi Devi of Oriental College won the gold medal for Manipur University beating hosts GNDU 15-12 today.
Meanwhile, in the individual foil competitions, W Sonia Devi suffered a 10-15 loss to Kanagalakshmi of GNDU and N Mina Devi went down 12-15 to Riya Bakshi of GNDU to settle for the bronze medals.
The women's foil team also qualified for the 4th Khelo India University Games 2024 due to be hosted by Assam next month in Guwahati. W Sonia and N Mina also have qualified for the women's individual foil competition at the KIUG 2024 as Chingkheinganba of Manipur College (men's individual sabre) and K Chandrika (women's individual epee) earned qualifications in their respective events.
