Salaai Kanba Lup holds session on 'Fight for Indigenes' Rights' theme

THOUBAL, Jan 13: The 2-day winter session of Salaai Kanba Lup (SKL), Headquarters Thoubal began today at the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, Thoubal Kshetrileikai.
The winter session is being held on the theme, 'Fight for Indigenes' Rights'.
The inaugural programme was graced by Salaaichaa L Gopal, newly appointed chairman of SKL and Head of Department of Political Science, Kumbi College; Konsam Michael, Thoubal Apunba Lup (TAL) advisor; N Rajivkumar, social activist; A Shyamkumar, KEMKAL advisor; L Rajen of Meitei Council Moreh (MCM); L Inaocha, SKL vice-chairman; Sapamcha Jadumani, Federation of Haomee president; Akhom Birendra, Meitei United Front convenor; H Nabashyam, World Meitei Council (WMC) chairman and Dhiraj Yumnam, Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee Manipur (STDCM) president as the presidium members among others.
Hoisting of the Salaai Kanba Lup flag by the dignitaries marked the opening of the winter session and raised slogans for unity.
As a part of the programme, a two-minute silence was observed in the honour of the SKL founder chairman, late Akoijam Jugindro.
The protem speaker of today's session, SKL advisor Shyam administered oath to the new chairman of SKL, Salaaichaa L Gopal followed by the oath taking ceremony of the new office bearers of SKL for the next three years.
The members of SKL who have delivered their duties diligently were also felicitated during the programme.
A photo exhibition displaying the activities and achievements of SKL since its inception was also inaugurated by the dignitaries today.
Delegates of different branches of SKL are participating in the 2-day winter session.
