Awareness programme on 'Implementation of Value Chain Processing Infrastructure' held

IMPHAL, Jan 12 : An awareness programme on 'Implementation of Value Chain Processing Infrastructure under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCD-NER), Manipur' was held today at Training Hall, Department of Agriculture, Sanjenthong.
The programme was jointly organised by Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Manipur and North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi) for  Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) and entrepreneurs of the State.
It was attended by Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Commissioner, Thaithuilung Pamei; NEDFi Guwahati Head Office, A&C Department, manager, Ghanashyam Thaosen; NEDFi Guwahati Head Office, BFC-mentor, Jiban Krishna Sarkar and PMU-MOVCD-NER Guwahati, Infrastructure & PPP Specialist, Linton Das as presidium members.
The programme began with the felicitation of dignitaries followed by a welcome & keynote address by Donald Soubam, Project Officer (MOMA).
Donald Soubam informed that about 100 FPCs and entrepreneurs under MOMA are taking part in the awareness programme.
He said that during the programme, experts will give awareness on MOVCDNER schemes and how to avail subsidy funds & apply for projects from NEDFi.
Thaithuilung Pamei asserted that due to its unique taste & quality, the organic foods produced in Manipur are in high demand across the country.
Stating that the programme will be helpful in increasing the production of organic foods in Manipur, he exhorted the trainees to learn & apply the knowledge imparted by experts during the programme.
In the technical session, expert from NEDFi Guwahati gave awareness on 'Opportunities under Value Chain Processing Component of MOVCDNER' while Jiban Krishna Sarkar elaborated on 'DPR Preparation for MOVCDNER' and Linton Das spoke on 'Overview of MOVCDNER & Infrastructure Component for FPCs/ Entrepreneur under the scheme'.
