In line with the observance of ‘Cervical Cancer Awareness Month’, Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre today organised a 1-Day Community Awareness and Screening Camp (Cancer Early Detection Program) at Malom Bazar in Imphal.
Over 150 people including men and women from the Malom Bazar area attended the camp, said a release issued by Karkinos.
The programme was conducted with the objective to create awareness about cancer-care, importance of regular health check–up, early detection of cancer and prevention among the people.
Dr Thingujam James, Consultant Gynae-Onco, was present to raise awareness about Cervical Cancer.
He also highlighted the importance of cancer screening and role of HPV Vaccination in defeating cancer.
Karkinos Healthcare Manipur’s highly experienced medical team led by Dr K Rajo Singh, HOD, Department of Anaesthesiology; along with Dr Thingujam James; Dr Nandan Choudhary; W Imo Singh, Operations Manager, RMOs, Nurses and Dieticians also took part in the programme.
The programme included General Health Check up, Oral Examination, Clinical Breast Examination, Cervical Screening and Risk Assessment along with an awareness session.
Health check-up was carried out for over 100 people during the camp. 25 children were given HPV Vaccination and around 150 people were enrolled for ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) Cards.
