Asian Games : Manipur Judo Association greets coach O Rajeshwari, judoka M Indubala

IMPHAL, Sep 20 : The Manipur Judo Association has extended greetings to Oinam Rajeshwari Chanu on being named as the Indian judo team coach and Maibam Indubala on being included in the Indian squad for the 19th Asian Games due to begin from September 23 in Hangzhou, China.
Oinam Rajeshwari is the first ever women's coach from Manipur to lead the Indian team at Asian Games. The team comprises four judokas namely Avtar Singh (men's 100 kg), Garima Choudhury (women's 70 kg), Indubala Devi (women's 78 kg) and Tulika Maan (women's 70 kg).
Judo events at the games will be held from September 24 to 27 and the Indian team will leave for China on September 21.
As per a release of the Manipur Judo Association, Oinam Rajeshwari Chanu, daughter of O Irabot Meitei of Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai holds Diploma in Sports Coaching from NIS, Patiala and current works with Inspire Institute of Sports, Bellary, Karnataka as a coach.
Rajeshwari has the experience of leading Indian team earlier in the World Judo Junior Championship 2021 held in Olivia (Italy), Cadet and Junior Asian Judo Championship, 2022, Bangkok (Thailand); Senior Asian Open, Kuwait 2023 and Senior Grand Prix 2023 in Zagreb (Croatia).
Meanwhile, Maibam Indubala is a resident of Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai. She is a daughter of Maibam Amujao Singh and trains at Inspire Institute of Sports, Bellary.
Indubala is a gold medallist in the Gujarat National Games 2022. Last year, she also earned gold medals at the Senior National Judo Championship in Lucknow; Inter University Games in Kanpur, Khelo India University Games in Bangalore.
She is also a silver medallist at Asian Open 2023 held in Kuwait this year and has participated at Dushanbe Grand Prix 2023 in Tajikistan. She had also participated at the European Open 2022 in Madrid.
The Manipur Judo Association also extended best wishes to the coach and judoka.
