IMPHAL, Sep 1 : Incensed mobs ransacked the house of Advocate Soraisam Chittaranjan of Manipur High Court at Singjamei Chingamakha Maisnam Leikai today.
The incident took place at around 2.30 pm.
It is reported that people coming from different  sides stormed the house of Advocate Chittaranjan   and vandalised several items such as TV, refrigerator, furniture, kitchen items, doors etc.
The mob dispersed after the arrival of police.
Security measures have been taken up in the area.
Stung by the attack on his residence, Advocate Soraisam Chittaranjan has clarified that he has very little to do with the case of Kham Khan Saun Hausing.
Clarifying on a viral social media post which says that four Meiteis are handling the case of a Kuki, Advocate Chittaranjan said that his role in the particular case was limited to filing documents at the Court.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Chittaranjan said that his mentor Advocate Anand Grover has been handling the case of Kham Khan Saun Hausing who is based in Hyderabad.
In connection with a case involving his client (Kham Khan Saun Hausing), Advocate Anand Grover was instructed by the Supreme Court to go to the High Court of Manipur and seek legal help.
A member of the Manipur High Court Bar Association should assist Advocate Anand Grover when he appeared before the High Court.
“In Manipur, Advocate Anand Grover knows only me and my friend Advocate Chongtham Victor”, Chittaranjan said.
“When Anand Grover requested me to assist him in fighting the case, I declined the request. As he insisted on only filing the documents, I filed the documents sent by him at the Court out of courtesy”, Chittaranjan said.
“When the particular case was tabled before the bench of Justice A Guneshwar Sharma on August 31, I submitted that I would like to withdraw from the case and the Court accepted my submission,” he said.
“Kham Khan Saun Hausing is not known to me personally and I have nothing to do with his case”, Advocate Chittaranjan clarified.
He added that he is a Meitei and would not do anything against the interest of the community.
