IMPHAL, Sep 14: The Zomi Council Steering Committee (ZCSC) has appealed to the Government of India to take urgent efforts to restrain the State Government from its alleged design of inflicting heinous crimes against the Zo ethnic population.
The alleged atrocities against the Zo people (Kuki-Zomi-Hmar) only highlight the collective failure of the Indian Nation, said a press release issued by ZCSC.
It also accused the State Government of fomenting unrest at the expense of the Zo ethnic community.
The sudden surge in casualties on account of the changed war tactics adopted by the State forces is taking the State further away from any peace initiative, it said.
The ZCSC, while denouncing the State Govern- ment’s actions, once again reaffirmed their stand for a permanent political solution.
