IMPHAL, Sep 13 : Expressing concern over the violence in Manipur persisting for more than four months with no end at sight, Khundrakpam Constituency MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar has asked the Government to take up necessary initiatives and ensure the safety of the  people.
He claimed that it was the failure of the Government in controlling Kuki narco terrorists which compelled the people to fight for the unity and integrity of Manipur and the same has led to killing of several civilians.
RIMS organised a free medical camp for the displaced people taking refuge at pre-fabricated houses set up inside Sajiwa Jail complex, today.
Speaking to the media, Lokeshwar thanked the RIMS  authority for organising a free medical camp for the people who got displaced due to the onslaught of the Kukis and providing free treatment and investigation facility to them.
The MLA said that he will extend all possible assistance to the inmates whenever they need medical attention.
On violence, he appealed to the State Government to  expedite the resettlement and rehabilitation works for the displaced people by deploying adequate security forces at the abandoned villages.
Saying that people of Ikou, Sadu Yengkhuman, Litanpokpi and  Dolaithabi have all been driven out by the Kukis and  are taking shelter elsewhere, the Congress MLA continued that he will provide a place to build temporary houses for the displaced families of the  four villages near Dolaithabi Dam or from his plot of land.
He appealed to the Government to build temporary houses for the displaced people of the four villages on the offered land so that they could live near their native places.
The Congress MLA went on to appeal to the Government to build temporary houses for all the people who fled persecution from Churachandpur, Moreh, Torbung Bangla etc near their abandoned villages after taking up all the security measures.
Saying that the Government remaining silent when the Kukis have waged a full scale war against the Meeteis using sniper rifles, explosives and other sophisticated weapons is unfortunate, Lokeshwar urged the Manipur Government to persuade the Centre and drive out the Kuki narco-terrorists.
He also suggested that all the MLAs of the ruling and Opposition parties led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh need to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi irrespective of their political affiliation to restore normalcy in the larger interest of the State.
Unfortunately, the Manipur Government has failed to  save lives and properties and there is no sense of unity among the Cabinet even in this difficult period, the Congress MLA said and added that the Chief Minister protecting the two Kuki Ministers is unacceptable.
Notably, the Chief Minister had recently claimed that  Nemcha Kipgen (Kangpokpi AC, BJP MLA) who holds the portfolio of Textiles, Commerce and Industry and Tengnoupal Constituency BJP MLA Letpao Haokip who is Tribal Affairs Minister are still working for their departments virtually.
Lokeshwar also asked if the Chief Minister is going to take part in the team of ruling MLAs who will head to New Delhi to meet Central leadership.
It would be better if the Chief Minister himself go to New Delhi and apprise the Central leaders about the unfolding  situation in Manipur and mount pressure on them to restore peace, he said and added that the Congress party won't object to any undertaking which is done in the interest of the people.
A team of specialist doctors from various departments of medicine, ENT, ophthalmology, gynaecology, dermatology, clinical psychology, orthopedic and paediatrics gave treatment and health counselling to around 112 inmates during the medical camp, apart from distributing medicines, sanitary pads and stationary items.
