First phase of Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 launched

The first phase of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0, an immunisation campaign, was launched today in Kangpokpi District by Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari (IAS) at the Office of the District Immunization Officer, District Hospital.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip; District Immunisation Officer Dr Eunice Haokip and teams of Health Department were also present at the launching programme organised by the Family Welfare Department and District Health Society, Kangpokpi.
It may be mentioned that, IMI 5.0 focuses on reaching zero-dose children aged between 0 - 5 years and pregnant women, ensuring that every child receives life-saving vaccines and those who might have missed any vaccine doses in the national immunisation schedule earlier.
The campaign also aims in achieving Measles and Rubella elimination in the country by ensuring that every child under 5 years of age has completed the two-dose schedule of Measles and Rubella Containing Vaccine (MRCV).
Speaking to the District Information Officer (IPR) regarding the immunization campaign, District Immunisation Officer Dr Eunice Haokip said that the health teams are targeting to cover 23,000 children aged between 0 - 5 years and more than 2,000 pregnant women under the IMI 5.0 drive. She said all the health workers have already been given training on August 5, 2023 for the immunisation campaign.
She informed that the Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 will be held in three phases.
The first phase will be held from August 7 to 12, the second phase from September 11 to 16 and the third phase from October 9 to 14.
The three round immunisation programme will help children upto five years and pregnant women fight as many as 12 diseases, she added.
Thoubal
Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Ahanthem Subhash launched the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 campaign today at Wangjing Kodompokpi Relief Camp by administering vaccines to children who are residing at the camp.
The launching programme was also attended by the District Family And Welfare Officer Thoubal Dr Ksh Memcha and the staff.
The DC while speaking at the occasion appealed to all to  avail the benefits of the immunisation campaign taken up by the Government for the well-being of young children and pregnant women.
