Suspected KIA chief killed

IMPHAL, Aug 5 : In a suspected case of fratricidal clash, unofficial source said that chief of the Kuki Independent Army identified as Thangkhongam Haokip alias Davidson alias Pareng Kom was found killed at Chawangphai at Thangjing Range in the wee hours of today.
An accomplice of Haokip identified as Johny Guite was also found killed, said the unofficial source.
Thangkhongam Haokip is suspected to have been killed in connection with the assault of a man who belonged to a community which is not part of the ongoing clash between the Meiteis and the Kukis, added the source.
The State Government had on April 5 this year announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 to anyone which could lead to the arrest or death of Haokip.
10 Coys of CAPF flown in : In the midst of the present volatile situation, 10 companies of Central Armed Police Force have been flown in today. The 10 companies comprise personnel of the BSF and ITBP, said sources.
