THOUBAL, Aug 1: Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana - Har Khet Ko Pani (PMKSY-HKKP) scheme serves as a boon for many farmers in the State as they are able to carry out agricultural activities successfully without having to worry about water scarcity issues.
For a state like Manipur where agricultural activities are majorly dependent on seasonal rain, it is essential that measures are taken up to ensure that the agricultural fields get regular supply of water.
In line with the above, Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated "Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana - Har Khet Ko Pani (PMKSY-HKKP)" in August 2020 from the funds of Union Ministry of Jal Shakti with an aim to alleviate water scarcity problems faced by the farmers.
Farmers who are availing the benefits of the said scheme are able to carry out agricultural activities successfully thereby getting adequate supply of water.
Farmers of Langathel village in Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency who are making the best use of groundwater tube-wells installed by the Minor Irrigation Department under this scheme, expressed gratitude for such initiatives taken up for farmers' welfare.

In connection with the provisions of the scheme, SO of the MI Department Thoubal Sub Division, W Birmal informed that funds were sanctioned to install 50 tube wells under MI Thoubal Sub-Division.
Tube wells are installed under this scheme by identifying areas which face acute water shortage issues through the local MLAs and farmers, he said.
