The 77th Independence Day was celebrated widely across the State with much pomp and grandeur yesterday.
Hoisting of the National flag and commemorating the umpteen contributions of the freedom fighters of the country were the highlights of the celebrations.
IMPHAL EAST
The District Administration of Imphal East celebrated 77th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at DC Office Complex in Porompat yesterday.
The celebration began with Deputy Commissioner Imphal East, Khumanthem Diana Devi hoisting the tricolour flag in the presence of SP Imphal East, Ksh Shivakanta and staff/ officials of Imphal East Zilla Parishad, Social Welfare Department and DC Office.
Speaking on the occasion, Kh Diana shared that the present conflict which began on May 3 last has led to irreparable loss of precious lives, destroyed many houses/ properties and left thousands of people displaced.
She mentioned that in Imphal East district alone, about 600 houses were destroyed and presently 4722 displaced people are taking refuge at 36 relief camps.
The DC also expressed her appreciation to the generous individuals, Clubs and NGOs who have been supporting the displaced people currently taking shelter at the relief camps.
Kh Diana further appealed to all the people to shun violence and put their faith in the Manipur Government and Manipur Police to restore law & order and peace in the State.
RSS
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Manipur Pranta also celebrated Independence Day at the Model Relief Centre set up in Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Skill Development Center (RBSDC), Haraorou, Imphal East district.
The celebration kicked off with the unfurling of the National Flag by Imphal Zilla Sanghchalak, Dr Th Naranbabu Singh followed by singing of the National anthem.
During the event, RSS Manipur Imphal Zilla honoured Kh Indira Devi, wife of Veer Saheed Head Constable (CRPF), Kh Upendra Singh, who died on July 18, 2016 fighting against the Naxal during a Search and Destroy Operation in Chhakarbandha forest, Bihar.
Karyakartas of RSS and Manipur Seva Samiti also discussed the issues being faced by the people who are living at the relief camp.
RSS Manipur Pranta also marked the day by unfurling the National Flag at Seva Bharati, Nagamapal on Tuesday.
High Court
The High court of Manipur alsoc celebrated the 77th Independence Day at Manipur High Court complex yesterday.
Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur, Justice M V Muralidaran hoisted the National Flag and took guard of honour from 29 Battalion BSF.
Manipur Police Training Centre Pangei band party played the National Anthem.
The observation was attended by Justice A Bimol, Justice A Guneshwar, Registrar General High Court of Manipur Advocate General, members of High Court Bar Association, State and Central advocates and employees of the High Court of Manipur
Other subordinate Courts also observed Independence Day celebration in their respective Court complex.
At Chirap Court complex, National Flag was hoisted by RK Memcha, District and Session Judge Imphal West and W Tonen, District & Session Judge Imphal East in the presence of Salam Imocha, Judge Special Fast Track Court Manipur 1, CJM Imphal west, Imphal east JMFC Imphal West and Civil Judge Senior Division
Executive members of AMBA and others also participated in the observation.
MASLSA/ Judicial Academy
Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) also celebrated the 77th Independence Day at its office premises in ADR Centre, Lamphel Court Complex, Imphal.
Ojesh Mutum, Member Secretary, MASLSA hoisted the tricolor followed by salute & National anthem.
K Nirojit, Civil Judge (Sr Divn), Imphal East; Sorokhaibam Sadananda, Addl Member Secretary, MASLSA, Judicial Officers, staff members of MASLSA and police personnel of Lamphel Court Complex attended the function.
Manipur Judicial Academy also celebrated Independence Day at its office premises in the High Court of Manipur Complex, Mantripukhri.
Justice Kh Nobin Singh, Director, Manipur Judicial Academy hoisted the National flag in the presence of Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui, Joint Director, Manipur Judicial Academy, officers & staff of the Academy.
NHIDCL
NHIDCL Regional Office, Imphal, Manipur yesterday celebrated the 77th Independence Day at its Office premises in Imphal, Officers Club Transit Hostel 2nd Floor, Lamphelpat, to foster a sense of belonging and reinforce the principles of equality, justice & prosperity for all.
On the eve of the Independence Day, NHIDCL Regional Office, Imphal recognized and awarded the officers/staff for their outstanding performance in the service of the society.
NHIDCL Regional Office, Imphal also appreciated and recognized the exemplary accomplishments and effort of the EPC contractors for their service in maintaining Imphal-Jiribam Road (NH-37), for keeping NH-37 in traffic worthy condition and providing smooth & seamless movement of convoy carrying essential goods & commodities to Imphal during the blockade of NH-02 which helped in providing sufficient supply of essentials goods and medicines to the State of Manipur.
RIMS
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal also celebrated Independence Day at RIMS A-Block, Imphal, yesterday.
Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS hoisted the National flag in front of Administrative Block of RIMS to commemorate this historical event.
Along with the flag hoisting ceremony, the staff and students also sang patriotic songs.
The celebration was attended by Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam, Dean (Academic), N Indrakumar Singh, Deputy Director (Admn), RIMS, Imphal, S Sarat Singh, CAO/FA, RIMS, Imphal, Principals of Dental College and College of Nursing, Heads of Departments, senior officials, faculty members, nursing officials, staff, civil security, and health workers of CRED.
Later, the Director and Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal and officials distributed sweets to the patients who were admitted to the hospital.
Central Jail
The 77th Independence Day was also celebrated yesterday at Prisons & Correctional Department, Manipur.
Faumei Gonglin, IGP (Prisons), Manipur, hoisted the National Flag during the celebration held at the Directorate of Prisons, Manipur while SK Bhadrika, Superintendent, Manipur Central Jail, Imphal, unfurled the Tri-colour at Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa.
Faumei Gonglin also distributed the Director General of Police (Prisons), Manipur Commendation Certificates to 8 prisons staff & personnel for their good performance on the implementation of Modernization of Prisons Project, Manipur during 2022-23.
The certificate were presented to R S Lydia, Office Superintendent; N Durgesh Kumar, Assistant Jailor; Wungramkhan Horam, Assistant Jailor; M Lukeshor Singh, Upper Division Clerk; RK Sanajon Singh, Warder; S Premchandra Meitei, Warder; and S Luckyboy Singh, Warder.
