IMPHAL, Aug 14 : The 77th edition of Manipur Independence Day was celebrated in the State, by hoisting flags which represent Manipur in different places, today.
Akampat Relief Committee today observed Manipur Independence day by hoisting the Manipur Flag at the relief camp opened in Akampat Ideal College.
The flag was jointly hoisted by Red Cross Society Manipur chairman Narendra Ningombam and members of Akampat Relief Committee in the presence of the displaced people who are currently taking shelter at the relief camp.
Earlier, members of the Committee along with the inmates of the relief camp conducted a mass social service.
In line with the celebration of 77th Manipur Independence Day, SAYOL Foundation Manipur and Live Savers Manipur in collaboration with State Blood Cell-NHM, Manipur, SBTC Manipur, HDFC Bank Imphal & Babina Blood Centre, Khabeisoi, Imphal East today organised a voluntary blood donation camp at Babina Blood Centre on the theme, "Ema Leibak Nungshiba Singi Damak".
At the camp, SAYOL Foundation chairman Elangbam Samananda shared that the ongoing conflict is to protect the future of Manipur and urged all the indigenous people of Manipur to come together to protect the motherland.
He mentioned that the voluntary blood donation was conducted to help the people who were injured during the present unrest.
Manipur Independence Day was also celebrated today at Wangoi Keithel.
The celebration was jointly organised by Youth Development Union Club (YDUC), Wangoi and SIRCA.
