IMPHAL, Aug 12 : The All Manipur United Club's Organisation (AMUCO) has joined the condemnation outcry of the gang-rape of a Meitei woman on May 3 evening in Churachandpur amidst violence and arson by Kukis.
In a statement, AMUCO shared the physical and emotional pain the victim had to endure for so long.
The fear the victim had for her and her family's prestige in this very conservative society after the incident might have held her back for so long from exposing the bitter truth. Better late than never, the dreadful secret of the heinous crime has come out, it said.
The viral video of two Kuki women being paraded on May 4 had forced the heads of everyone to hang in shame and put Meiteis in the bad light and the damning revelation of the May 3 incident by the brave lady recently is indeed laudable, it said.
As she has revealed the truth courageously, she deserves encouragement for calling out the crime committed by some perverts. It is time for everyone to show solidarity and help seek justice, it said.
The people's representatives, known and unknown public figures who were at the forefront when the viral video emerged should also not hesitate in seeking justice for the Meitei woman, it said.
Regardless of the communal line, all sections of Meitei society came out strongly against the bestial crime and stood with the Kuki women victims and the same is expected from the other communities, it observed.
