Kuki militants open fire, hoist flag, build bunkers

MOIRANG, Jul 1 : In a fresh act of violence, Kuki militants launched a gun attack at Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai on the intervening night of June 30 and July 1.
There, however, is no report of any casualty.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the Kuki militants have built six new bunkers and erected Kuki flags at Tongbram colony at K Molhoi Village in the northern side of Churachandpur and the adjacent areas after driving out the Meitei inhabitants.
It is said that Tongbram colony was inhabited by seven Meitei families before it was taken control by the Kuki militants.  
Speaking to the media, one local of K Molhoi Village who fled from his home said that the aggression by the Kuki militants has terrorised the young and old alike.
Saying that they also saw some armed people taking away utensils and other items from Tongbram Colony which has been occupied by Kuki militants at around 8.15 am, he added that three new bunkers have also been built at the colony making the total count to four.
Some new bunkers have also been found installed at the adjacent areas of Tongbram Colony.
He further said that the Kuki militants have also erected their flags at the place.
Saying that they requested the BSF to dismantle the bunkers and remove the flags, he added that the BSF was not willing to act as the SP concerned didn't give any instruction to them.
He then appealed to the SP to take necessary action to drive out the Kuki militants and dismantle the bunkers.
Saying that they also saw the people on the other side engaged in agriculture works by building bunkers, he added that they however couldn't do the same.
Asking whether the Government has given separate administration to the Kuki as their militants are doing whatever they like, he added that there is not a slight indication of peace prevailing in their area though the BJP Government claimed that peace is gradually returning in the State.
In a late report, it is said that the Churachandpur police removed the flag hoisted by Kuki militants at Tongbram colony at around 5 pm.
