A joint team of Army and Assam Rifles swiftly reacted and coordinated with locals to repair the approach road from New Keithelmambi to Bungte Chiru which was damaged by some miscreants on July 16 last.
The miscreants dug up the road connecting Aimol-Waroiching with a JCB and also removed several panels from the iron bridge at Wainem village. The road and the bridge were unfit for movement of any vehicles thus causing immense hardship to the locals, said a statement by the Assam Rifles.
Acting upon the request of the locals, the joint team of Army and Assam Rifles made a JCB available for the repair work. The JCB was escorted to the location and the dug up portion was effectively filled up, similarly the dislodged panels of the bridge were restored to make the bridge fit for plying vehicles.
Such an endeavour will not only facilitate faster transportation of relief materials and unhindered movement to villages Wainem, Imol and Bungte Chiru but will also facilitate faster operational response by Security Forces, added the statement.
