State Subroto Cup Stage set for U-17, U-14 boys' finals

IMPHAL, Jul 15 : The final line up of both the U-14 and U-17 Boys' competition of the ongoing 62nd State Subroto Cup were completed today.
Unique Model Academy-Heingang of Imphal East will play TG English School of Bishnupur district in the U-14 title clash tomorrow at 8.30 am while TG English School will play CT Higher Secondary School-Mayang Imphal of Imphal West will square off for the U-17 Boys' title from 2.30 pm.
In the first semi-final match of the U-14 boys' competition, Unique Model Academy (UMA) beat Nirmalarani High School, Imphal East 6-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw during normal time and even after extra time.
Awangshi opened the account for the Heingang time with a freak first minute goal but Nirmalarani High School fought back and overturned the lead through goals from Alibash (17') and M Yaikhomba (39').
UMA however did not lose hope and drew level with L Suraj in the 50th minute to stretch the game to extra time before penalty shoot-out decided the game. In the shoot-out, Priyokumar, Suraj, Nongshaba and Awungshi were on target while only Satish, Alibash and Joykisan found the target for the Wangoi team.
In the other semi-final match, TG English School crushed Public English School, Leishangthem of Thoubal district by 4-1 goals to set up a final date with UMA.
The goals for the Bishnupur school were scored by Donald (12', 43'), Vikash (23') and Yohenba (38') while the only goal for the losing team was scored by Vishal in the 45th minute.
Meanwhile in the first semi-final match of the U-17 boys tournament, TG English School overcame Heirok Higher Secondary School by 5-2 goals in an extra time thriller as the two sides remained locked at 2-2 till regulation time.
The winning goals for TG English School came from Th Sanathoi (13', 66', 70'), Tom (67') and Naresh (69') while L Nikki (11') and L Vikramjit (55') scored for the Thoubal team.
In the other semi-final match, CT Higher Secondary drubbed Khangshillung Higher Secondary School 3-0 as Monex hit a brace (45', 58') after W Tejkumar found the opener in the 23rd minute.
