National People's Youth Front gears up to host public meet

IMPHAL, Jun 28 : In view of the proposed visit of National president of National People's Party on July 3, the youth wing of the party- National People's Youth Front (NPYF) is gearing up to host a public convention/conference on the theme "Voice of the People".
This was stated by NPYF-Manipur unit president Laitonjam Jayananda at the NPP State office at Naoremthong.
Jayananda said NPP National president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is proposed to visit Manipur on July 3 to assess the ground situation in the violence hit State and lend a helping hand in restoration of peace and normalcy.
NPYF-Manipur welcomes his (Conrad) visit and expects to be a significant one, he said.
The National president will call on the Manipur Governor, CSOs and other stakeholders during his visit, he said.
In view of his visit, NPYF-Manipur is making all efforts to present the case to the visiting Meghalaya CM and stressing on the possible role the youth wing can play to help restore peace and normalcy in the State without disturbing the unity and integrity of the State. An executive meeting of NPYF-Manipur was convened last night to discuss the same, he said.
State president of NPYF said that the situation in Manipur is a very serious one and should not be taken lightly. The prolonged chaotic condition has affected all- physically, psychologically and economically and to end it will be a very challenging task, he observed.
In the wake of the prevailing situation, NPP State unit leaders and senior members had submitted a five-point suggestion to concerned authorities earlier. The same will be raised and discussed with Conrad during his visit, he said.
Further, the youth wing of the party which is working with the motto- One Voice, One North East, will also hear what the public has to say, assess the public aspiration and work accordingly. To realize it, the youth wing is preparing to hold a public conference, he said.
The youth wing aims to forward the suggestions, ideas and views placed by the public during the conference to the Prime Minister through the NPP National president, he added. He further maintained that NPYF-Manipur welcomes Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's two-day visit to the State. The youth front will also welcome other leaders who care for Manipur and want an end to the turmoil situation peacefully and amicably, he continued.
