IMPHAL, Jun 26 : The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has questioned why only the case of bomb blast over a bridge in Bishnupur district on June 21 was promptly handed over to NIA while many cases of higher magnitude involving many organisations have not been probed despite evidence.
Significnatly three teenagers were injured in the high intensity blast.
A memorandum regarding this and request for handing of other cases to NIA was submitted to the Union Home Minister yesterday through Kuldiep Singh, Security Advisor, Manipur.
In the memorandum, KIM said it wants the Government to be impartial, fair and show the same level of promptness in dealing with many incidents/cases related to acts of ‘terrorism against the Kukis’ since May 3 and enumerated 5 cases.
The cases as listed in the memorandum include.
1. Open threat to "annihilate" the whole Kuki population by Pramot Singh, a ‘self-styled leader’ of Meetei Leepun, in an interview on a TV show on June 6.
2. Declaration of "Manipur National War" on 'Chin Kuki' narco terrorists during a public convention on June 7 by Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) and its dissuasion to the public from surrendering arms which can be considered abetment to loot arms.
3. 'Disproportionate' use of weapons and indiscriminate shelling of mortars and bombs on Kuki civilian populace by miscreants at Pholjang/Gothol/ Kwakta areas on May 27 which claimed one life; at Nazareth area, Sugnu on May 30 and at Thingkangphai area on June 6 leading to death of one civilian and injury of three others.
4. 'Terror' on Kukis sponsored by N Biren and his 'pet' organisations.
5. Constant attacks on Kuki areas bordering Imphal valley.
KIM said it is imperative that a probe be done by impartial investigation agencies considering the ramifications and nature of the subversive activities and threats posed to the National security in the cited cases.
Demanding the cited cases be immediately handed over to the National Investigation Agency in the interest of National security, KIM went on to say that failing to comply with the pressing demand will compel the Kuki people to take extreme steps and they should not be held responsible for any consequences.
