Local organisations appeal to suspend interest collection

Tbl/Bpr, Jun 24 : Khoirom Apunba Club and Meira Paibi have appealed to all big and small banking institutes to defer interest collection from loanees in Yairipok Khoirom area until the situation in the State returns to normal.
The joint body of local clubs and Meira Paibi bodies of the area, observed that the earnings of the locals have been drastically hit owing to the restive situation in the State and as such they are struggling to meet their financial need and loan repayment. As such, banking institutes including Micro Finance and Self Help Groups should suspend their collection of interest and loan repayment until the situation subsides, it added.
Thoya Development Association Moirang also appealed to those running Micro Finance and private money lenders to shun collection of interest in the area in view of the turmoil situation and limitations in earning opportunities.
