The present unrest and violence in the State of Manipur which started on 3rd of May 2023 has completed 45 days, More than 100 innocent lives have been lost and valuable properties damaged due to the ongoing violence and despite many steps that have been taken up to bring the situation under control, not much improvement is seen on the ground. There is a complete breakdown of law and order in the State. Every section of the society has been affected badly and people are suffering most. Every community, every person irrespective of caste, creed and religion want immediate restoration of peace in the State.
At present, there is no trust and confidence in the Government and administration. Public have lost complete faith in the present State Government. Some special measure for proper administration and function of the Government by following Rule of Law may kindly be restored so that the trust and confidence of the general public is restored.
Following are some of the suggestions which may kindly be considered for restoration of peace and tranquillity in the State.
- Proper and rational deployment of CPMF (Central Para Military Force) along with the State police.
-Strict enforcement of ground rules of SoO (Suspension of Operation) groups.
- Demand for separate administration by any community should not be considered at any cost and integrity of the State should not be disturbed.
-Strong action to check the infiltration and involvement of CDF (Chin-Kuki Defence Force) in the present violence as there is strong apprehension by the general public. This may be a threat to National Security.
A meeting of Kuki MLAs and Meitei MLAs may kindly be arranged to enable us to find a solution on the issue of the State by interacting and exchanging ideas, as since 3rd of May 2023, we have not met due to the prevailing situation.
