Kakching Assembly Constituency MLA and National Peoples' Party (NPP) National general secretary Mayanglambam Rameshwar Singh met with three union ministers and convenor of NEDA to apprise them of the ongoing situation in Manipur and request for solutions.
According to a statement issued by the MLA's office, a team of MLAs, including M Rameshwar, led by Speaker of Manipur Assembly Thokchom Satyabrata had met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday and received assurance from the Union Ministers that the territorial integrity of Manipur will remain intact, adequate actions will be taken against those who have illegally taken up arms and proper monitoring of the situation will be carried out to ensure that the blockade along NH 102 is lifted.
M Rameshwar also separately met with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
During the meetings, the MLA made special requests to the political leaders to ensure that the Prime Minister looks into the situation in Manipur and adequate funds are provided for the relief and resettlement of all displaced persons.
M Rameshwar also urged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to take stringent measures to lift the blockade imposed along National Highway 102 which is the lifeline of Manipur. Further, he appealed to the NEDA Convenor to ensure that Central leaders bring an amicable resolution to the present conflict at the earliest.
Overall, the MLA made fervent appeals to the leaders to ensure that peace is restored in Manipur.
