283rd birth anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra observed

IMPHAL, Jun 21 : Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation, Manipur today observed the 283rd birth anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra at its office premises in Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai.
Members of the cultural foundation and other attendees paid floral tributes to the photo of the late Meitei monarch during the observation programme.
Speaking at the occasion, secretary of the cultural foundation Moirangthem Ashok Singh said the foundation had earlier planned to observe the day in a grand manner in the presence of Meitei diaspora residing in pockets of Bangladesh but had to turn to a low key event owing to the prevailing turmoil situation in the State.
The foundation had also aimed earlier to highlight and celebrate the Kang festival together with the visitors from Bangladesh in line with the planned observation programme, he said.
Prior to the commencement of the formal observatory programme, the members of the foundation observed two minute silence in honour of the martyrs who had laid down their lives for the sake of the State's integrity recently during the height of the communal conflict.
