KAKCHING, Jun 11 : Demanding abrogation of Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact, elimination of narco-terrorism from the soil of Manipur and protection of the State's integrity, members of Committee for Peace and Social Harmony of the relief set up at Kakching Higher Secondary School have launched a relay hunger strike in front of the school, today.
Donning khudei (Meitei loincloth) and Salai Taret shawl, the protesters urged the Centre and the State Government  to declare SoO groups as terrorists, expedite the rehabilitation  and resettlement works of the displaced families with adequate deployment of secu- rity forces and protect the integrity of Manipur.
They also urged the State Government to utilise the residences of the MLAs and Ministers as relief camps if they couldn't control the Kuki militants.
Speaking to media persons, one of the protesters P Somendro  accused the leaders of the State of being good and bold only in lip service when Kuki militants are extremely hostile towards Meeteis.
These Kuki militants are doing whatever they want in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Moreh, Serou, Phayeng etc while the leaders are securing the chairs, he said.
Saying that they are crestfallen on seeing the suffering of the displaced people, Somendro urged the Government to carry out the  rehabilitation and resettlement works of the displaced folks expeditiously.
Those taking shelter at the relief camps will be sent to the residences of the Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs if the Government fails to give a positive response, he cautioned.
Further urging the Government to control the Kuki militants, he asked how the militants are still attacking the Meeteis if security measures have been taken up as claimed by the Government.
