Tangkhuls, Meiteis vow to jointly safeguard State

IMPHAL, Jun 10 : Representatives including village chiefs and authorities of 13 Tangkhul and 6 Meitei villages came to the same table to jointly defend and safeguard the State during a meeting held today at Chandrakhong, a converging point of Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Thoubal districts.
The meeting was held under the theme "Know your identity" as a part of Federation of Haomee's continuous effort to rediscover the lost ties between hill and valley dwellers.
The Meitei and Tangkhul villages which participated in the meeting as per a statement of Federation of Haomee were Tangkhul Khullen, Somrei, Shung-griphai (Sorarel), Irong Tangkhul, Komlaching, Horton, Jakhama, Irong Aze, Sada Khunbi, Sotun, Lungthar, Gwarok Maring, Heinganglok, Chandra-khong, Phanjakhong, Ningel, Leirongthel, Malom and Kakmayai.
The meeting deliberated on ways to find out who are friends and can be trusted and who are foes, who are trying to rip apart the State and concluded with the representatives unanimously drawing three major resolutions, the statement said.
The resolutions as listed by the Federation of Haomee are as follows :
1. To denounce the Gazette No. 309 published by the State Government on September 23, 2022 and seek for implementation of NRC at the earliest to distinguish "indigenes/yelhoumee" and foreigners,
2. To start non cooperation towards foreigners and not to rent out land or paddy land to them, and
3. To jointly safeguard Meitei and Tangkhul villages.
